One of the attendees' older brother came because there was reason to believe there would be trouble.  The older brother was killed as he shielded his little brother from the gunfire.  The Mother of the birthday girl must have known something was up because she told those who had guns to leave.  There is a whole different society out there that is foreign to us old folk (over 40).  They have their ways of communicating that day-to-day we are totally ignorant of as to what they are and how they are used.  Unlike Nashville and other events such as that there were at least four conspiritors who worked together to pull it off.  Unfortunately all the armed guards you put in any school would not have prevented this.  The only answer is better parenting and that is going the wrong way it seems.
