You like to point out that the sales tax is regressive.
Over the last week I purchased groceries, gas, looked at a car to purchase, paid insurance, and looked at my property tax bill for filing with the IRS - none of which were based on my income, all were set in some fashion based on market price of the goods or property.
When I passed the gas station it did not state .0000001% of my adjusted gross income per gallon.
When I looked ay my property tax it was based on the value of the property, not my income.
So you are for higher property taxes vs sales tax - so low income family who are struggling will have to pay the same mil tax increase as you or have the state kick them out of their home, yup sounds fair and regressive. As a doctor you should not be making more then minimum wage and should be forced to pay more mil's then someone making under 100K. So what if you have student loans to repay, thats not the tax assessors issue. I always hear about doctors whining about the cost of medical school, you chose it, you make more, you should have to pay a much higher rate based on your income, just because you have bills to pay you should not be allowed to bill more then minumum wage for the 5 minutes you see a patient just because it costs you more, damn how unfair of you to set a fixed cost not based on what someone can afford.
I see and hear about families with life savings wiped out by medical bills - how heartless of your industry.
