ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. (AP) - Three Dadeville men have surrendered to Tallapoosa County authorities in a Fourth of July boating hit & run incident on Lake Martin.
According to marine police, 27-year-old William W- Sapp the Second is charged with reckless operation of a vessel, assault in the third degree, failing to render aid at the scene of an accident, and tampering with physical evidence.
Two others, 25-year-old Jeffery Harris and 45-year-old Phillip Christensen are charged with tampering with physical evidence.
According to police, Sapp was allegedly operating the boat when it struck the rear end of an Opelika couple's 25-foot Chaparral at the mouth of Blue Creek.
The boat flipped over, ejecting the couple into the lake. Both were treated at a hospital for minor injuries.
Marine Police Captain Matt Brooks says the three Dadeville men surrendered yesterday and were freed on bond. All the charges are misdemeanors.
