Went for an afternoon cruise yesterday and saw some magnificent views of the nature that is Lake Martin. We left Manoy Creek and went between the island with the ospreys nest and got a great view of an osprey. We went all the way up Madwind and on the way out as we approached the osprey nest again and saw two ospreys chasing an eagle away then another opsrey came in and joined the chase while one of the others retreated to a defensive position neathe nest. Then another eagle comes sweeping in to join the fight. Shortly after that the eagles beat a hasty retreat so we Co tinued around the point to see a group of Fox squirrels playing and romping at the waters edge. Then as we started to turn back into Manoy a big doe came down the point and jumped in the lake and took off swimming for the other shore. As soon as she spotted us she turned around and went back up the hill. Then two dogs showed up that were tracking her. They jumped in and started swimming. As they got a little past where she swam to they lost the scent and went into circles trying to find it again and eventually heading back up the hill. The deehad plenty of head start at that point so I'm sure she was in the water on the other side of the peninsula.
Nature at its best!
