So apparently de Blasio wants to provide his own version of Medicare for all for citizens of NYC at a projected cost of $100M annually for the 600,000 residents who don't have insurance. Think about the math here folks so you understand the economic illiteracy of Democrats. $100,000,000 divided by 600,000 equals $166.67 per participant per year. Yep, that's right, either de Blasio actually thinks he can provide health care to New Yorkers for $167 per year or he is outright lying about what it will actually cost. Either way I suspect he will be in for a very rude wakeup call as will the taxpayers of the city. And unlike the Feds, he can't print money to make good on this program.
However this eventually works out, you can expect a continued exodus of taxpayers from the city and if he actually does implement it there may be a rush to the door once they see city tax rates from the already stout 8.875% to probably, say 20% or more which may not even be enough? And remember, under the current Fed tax rules, only $10K of that can be deducted from Federal taxes. But, in order to be consistent and intellectually honest about my support of the concept of Federalism, I am all for him moving ahead. Once that disaster becomes reality maybe people will finally understand what Medicare for all will really cost......and it ain't $167 per year....more like $167 per day.
