Clinton's email issues don't strike me as damning as some folks want it to be. Previous government officials & Sec. of State used similar systems, forgoing putting 100% of their correspondance on .gov servers, and it seems to be she failed to keep pace with 'state of the art' security procedures as cyber experts would have recommended. However, there is no indication that she revealed (intentionally or otherwise) state secrets. It was her mistake, and she has said so. After lengthy investigation, nothing indicates that what she did caused a national security catastrophe... so let's stop suggesting that it did.
I really don't think that anything put into internet email has been private, secure and unavailable to someone who wants to get into them. Edward Snowden's revelations should be proof of that. So my opinion is that anything transmitted in this way has always been open to view by people with the knowledge and determination to crack it. The same would have to be said for Government servers. Does anyone think that security firewalls have been 100% secure when the top hackers from every country in the world make it their business every day to penetrate them?
Surely someone with more knowledge about electronic communications will have more informed opinions, but I just think it is foolish to expect that the Sec. of State's emails haven't been read by "others" for a long time now.
A private email server and an attack on a US embassy post in Bengazi.... neither of these things are rising to the level of criminal activity that Clinton opponents wish. There is nothing there, except for exaggerated anti-Clinton propaganda.
