Funny thing about the media - in the aftermath of the horrendous violence this weekend, instead of blaming the peretrators, they choose to blame the President. The President just has words - and if those words are his belief, he has still never been compelled by this thoughts to go out and kill people. I often don't like his words finding them perhaps a tad melodramatic, but I get his point. Yet, they don't compell me to go out and kill people. Despite what the media would have us believe, given the total population of the US, massive shooting are still quite rare. It's sad and horrifying when it does happen, but most people are able to go about their daily lives without fear of being shot.
There are people here in the US and around the world that are deeply angry. They believe that everything that has happened to them or to this country is someone else's fault. Hitler blamed the Jews. The Klu Klux Klan blamed Blacks. In the mind of the El Paso shooter, he blamed Latinos. And while they may not meet the medical criteria for "mental illness", they still aren't right in the head. They obsess.
I don't want to keep Latinos out of our country - I just want them to come in, in some organized fashion, not just walk across the border. I feel the same about every other ethnic group individuals that wish to take up residence in our country. I want the law breakers, i.e. those here illegally, to be deported, because no matter how many businesses they have built, how large their families, or how well loved they are, they have still broken the law.
But stop blaming the President for everything that goes wrong. He's just one man and he is not responsible for mass shootings. His words are just words to make a point.
