I know that here in the U.S. we are fixated on the impeachment debacle and the IG report but yesterday was a historic win for Tories in the election as it gives them a 76-seat majority and sent the liberals packing in places they haven't lost in forever. The main issue in this election was whether the UK would be sovereign nation or remain in the EU and abdicate their sovereignty to a bunch of technocrats in Brussels. The people spoke years ago on this issue and Theresa May diddled around and basically did nothing and for that she was summarily dismissed. It is the will of the people to exit the EU and Boris Johnson will make it happen and now has an overwhelming mandate to do so. And of course the left is already blaming their leader the anti-Semite Jeremy Corbin rather than acknowledging the failure and unpopularity of their policies.......sound familiar?
So now the EU knows the UK will Brexit and they also know if they don't negotiate in good faith it will be a hard Brexit. And we shall see if all the prognostications of economic doom that the remainers claim will occur are correct. Given our experience here in the U.S. with Trump, who so many claimed would cause economic ruin, I am not going to bet the ranch on this killing their economy. In fact, I am betting on the opposite as they will now be able to decide their own fate rather than being dominated by Germany and France through the EU technocrats. If I were Trump I'd immediately send a trade delegation to the UK and negotiate a new treaty with them and do everything I could to help them successfully exit the EU.
