I think they should have a maximum speed during hours of darkness. I have docking lights on my deck boat and tried using them at night as headlights. Didn't work worth a crap. The only thing they do is bother other boaters. I decided the best thing for me is to slow down and just take it easy and watch for other boats at night. I do love cruising at night but with some of the boats running as fast as they do it's extremely risky. People think they can see well enough to run 35 mph or faster and this is simply not true. It's not safe. Folks need to slow down. In my opinion, if someone is blinding you with their light bar, get a spot light and quickly wave it across them like flashing your high beams in a car. If they don't get the message or take the hint, return the favor. I've been fortunate in that I haven't encountered one yet but I know it's coming.
