While there is no doubt that left wingers are pretty motivated, the coverage of the Texas primaries by the press was completely stupid. For some reason they are all excited that 40% of the primary voters that showed up were Democrats. That may be higher than the last couple of election cycles but it's 4% lower than 2006. I suggest you look at the state-wide results for that year. And Ted Cruz got more primary votes than all the Democrat Senate candidates combined.
And here is where they are making a mistake. I am of the opinion that the media thinks it can demotivate Republican voters with all this talk about a blue wave. In fact, the opposite will happen and they will be doubly motivated to vote if they think there is a chance that a Democrat can win. We saw that in spades here in the GA 6th with the special election to fill Price's seat. If you believed the media coverage it was over before it began and yet Handel won easily. I know I made sure I and everyone I knew voted, something I would not do in normal years. The same is going to happen in 2018.
I continue to believe that Democrats will retake the House in 2018 due to the enthusiasm gap but the results in Texas are further proof that you cannot believe what you read in the govt media. They are simply not to be trusted.
