Not so fast. First of all, the only process for removing a President is a political one. First, the House has to introduce articles of impeachment which will certainly happen if the Dems control the House in 2019. Then it goes to the Senate who has to convict. And Trump is not going to resign unless he knows he will be convicted, nor should he. Either way (resignation or conviction), I seriously doubt Pence would win again in 2020.
I would also be remiss if I didn't point out that the payments Trump made are not a violation of campaign finance laws. In essence Lanny Davis got his client to plead guilty to something that is not a crime, even if at the direction of Trump. This is what Cohen gets for retaining a political hack lawyer who is more interested in getting Trump than protecting his client. And it also lays bare the political motivations of the Mueller team. Selective prosecution for political purposes is no virtue. And I would also be remiss if I didn't point out that the govt has paid millions in hush money to cover the backsides of congressmen and women so they could be reelected. Is that also a crime? So left wing nuts, enjoy your moment of euphoria but be prepared for reality as this plays out. This was a bad day for Trump for sure but there is a lot more that has to happen for you to get what you really want, to overturn an election that you didn't like.
Assuming the worst case happens, you can be sure that all the positive changes to our economy will go down the drain. All we can do is vote in November for candidates that don't want to return to the ruinous policies of the Obama years. Regardless of what happens this has been a victory for the deep state and any hope we have of reigning in an out of control Federal government will be gone. I for one am not going to sit on the sidelines and I'll do my part by supporting candidates that believe what I do.
