I have never understood why people will suffer thru living in a terrible place just so they can retire in a “better” place. Had an interesting conversation with my limo driver one night. I flew into La Guardia at night and company had arranged a limo to take me about halfway up Long Island for a meeting. Driver noticed I didn’t talk like a yankee and asked me where I was from. Told him Alabama, and you could hear the excitement in his voice as he told me he was from Tuscaloosa and hoped one day to retire back home. This guy worked all day driving a city bus in NYC, and worked a shift driving a limo at night....just so he could retire in Tuscaloosa. Did my best to convince him to go home now and get a job and he would be wealthier and happier in Tuscaloosa....wish I thought he had listened. Beyond me why people choose to suffer needlessly. BTW, that’s the only time I’ve been thru a McDonald’s Drive Thru in “style”.
