Do yourself a favor and get rid of your Attwood or Mercury outboard external fuel lines.  Go to Napa and get some real fuel line and make your own.  I have been battling an idling issue with my outboard all summer and it turns out the fuel line liner deteriorated and was causing a blockage in the line.  Check out the attached picture of what was in the fuel line and gas tank.  This was not even half of it.
