Maybe at the beginning but when he started to gain traction with the far left and Hillary was stumbling I think he got started thinking he might actually be able to beat her like Obama did in 2008. I think that is what was going through his mind in the so-called debate when he made the generous and vacuous statement about being tired of hearing about those dam n emails.  He is regretting not attacking her on this issue and is making up for lost time.
