Two thumbs up for composite so far (3 years old).  I was very skeptical prior to replacing 6 year old wood dock that started loosing boards in year two.  So far: it has lasted longer, not as hot (as dark stained wood and when is does get warm, we throw a bucket of lake water on it), no splinters, no maintenance (pressure or staining & protecting.)

 

Find someone that has had it for 10 years or more.
