I have no problems with anyone reaping the rewards of their labors. And I don't believe in forced charity, although my heart tells me that because I have been so blessed, I should be charitable to others who have not. Because I truly believe what goes around comes around.
I know a woman through my cat community whose husband lost his arm in a work-related accident. Since that time, they have struggled financially and have been able to depend on family to help them out. After his accident, he was no longer able to do his job and lost it; and since then has tried to make a go out of working from home. She has a low paying full time job. The other day, the bank notified her that they would repossess her car - a car that she needed to get back and forth to work. A group of us have banded together to pay some of her bills -- not giving her the money directly, but paying her utilities and however else we can help. She has not asked the government for help, and she has not asked any of us, either, but those of us who know her are moved to help as we can. She's a good woman and has participated through our cat rescue program with her time and efforts.
Why should I not give a helping hand to someone that I know, who needs it?
