The bullet is part of the equation, the case is another - both have unique fingerprints when used in a gun ( scratches, ejection marks etc) basically a fingerprint.
I was aware of where you were with the statement, and 100% agree that just as with anything such as a car, bullet, hammer, frisbee once you put it into motion you own it till it is in a resting state and not harmful to anyone.
But since we "register" cars, and they would love to create a gun "registry" they have in the past also proposed basically a bullet registry of ownership through microstamping and adding fillters to bullets that are unique which would require each bullet to basically be registered creating a massive headache has been proposed in the past - just wanted to point it out and its obvious problems with logistics since we were on the topic of "ownership"
