The question I had is a simple one as well that I do not think anyone has touched on -
1. This person was under political asylum in the USA and was a Saudi citizen - so he had reason to leave his country for fear of something and came to the USA as a journalist protected inside our borders by our rights. As a journlist and Saudi citizen does he not understand the laws of his own country?
2. He was not in the USA when this happened and other countries do not just allow our rights to transfer because we say so on their soil.
3. If he had fear of anything why would he walk into a embassy knowning that it is considered the same as being physically in that country with all the rights or lack of attached? Being a journalist he must know that the rules and laws that cover inside the USA do not transfer because you were looking for a story or any other reason in another country and into an embassy where the only rules that apply are what they want to enforce inside those walls and not even the laws of the surrounding countryside.
This is almost as good as one of the SCOTUS storylines
I went to a party and watched people get drugged and raped. I was scared. I kept going back till I was raped, and possibly went back after that.
I still have more questions then answers.
