Me bad at math? probably guilty... but not in this case. Your understanding of history may need another look though. The 150 years post Civil War was marked by laws that prevented Black folks from voting, from living in white neighborhoods, from attending white schools....these were clearly sanctioned legal actions designed to keep them in an under-class status. That's systemic racism, and we haven't wiped out all the effects of that by a long shot.
Nobody is talking about paying reparations here, you made that up. I was talking about the importance of always remembering what happened, how atrocious it was.... and how we talked ourselves into believing it was OK.
We can't pay reparations to ex-slaves and the decendents of ex-slaves because there are simply too many minority groups who have been purposely damaged during the history of the US. These includes Native Americans, Hispanic settlers, First Nations groups plus the people who were bought and sold like cattle.
