That's a very good question. At this point, I wonder how any of them, conservatives and liberal, would perform in a real debate, answering questions about exactly what they would do. No one seems to want to answer the actual question that is asked of them, and I don't think Hilary is any different in that regard. It's the old Washington addage that if you don't like the question you are asked, then answer one that you do like.
I watched the latest Benghazi hearings, and I have to say that Hilary did extremely well and the Republicans came off looking mean-spirited and aggressive. Of course, everyone had months to prepare for that outing, and in the end, it was nothing but political showmanship.
Of course, if Hilary is the democratic nominee and whoever is the Republican nominee, there will be debates. I think she is very vulnerable on her relationship with the UAE and monies obtained through her foundation, and in a real debate, I think she would find it very difficult to form a cohesive reply, without it sounding rehearsed and insincere.
One person who I have found impressive in the debates is Carly Fiorina. She seems to be able to think on her feet and answer the questions asked of her cohesively and withing the time limit.
I'm late to this thread, but I do not think there is a comparison between Al Sharpton and Ben Carson. Sharpton is nothing more than civil rights agitator, trying to fashion himself as the successor to MLK and Ben Carson is a well educated, thoughtful man. However, I do believe that Washington would take Ben Carson, chew him up and spit him out in a month. He's a nice man, but I do not find him anywhere near qualified to be President, and some of his statements are downright scary - I think he is a dreamer and not a doer.
