Good grief, woman, do you TRULY have no life??
For the info of the rest of you, this cadre of women, most of whom have ZERO direct affiliation with the band, but apparently have plenty of perceived gripes and grudges, have taken on hair buns and go-go boots as their raison d'etre recently. They and their group are flooding both athletic events and other message boards with their misinformed and utterly ridiculous opinions against the current band director and the administration. They hear what they want to hear, and disregard the rest. For those of us who are AU alum, they are a complete embarassment. They tried to bring their crap onto an Auburn board of which I am a long time member (www.aunation.net) and they got shut down rapidly, and in a not so pleasant manner. Times change and progressive institutions will allow themselves to embrace change if those whom it affects accept it. From what I understand, no one actually in the band right now appreciates their busybody interference.
One of these "ladies" actually posted the following in our Auburn football forum, when one of their members questioned why she was complaining about majorettes in a football forum. Here's the link to the "conversation" http://www.aunation.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=30305&st=0
I believe this one statement shows clearly that this group is about as rational as my two year old:
"1986AUAlum: But when AU football recruiters start calling the AU athletic department to complain about how bad the AU majorettes look and how it's hurting recruiting, and when the athletic department is concerned enough to look into it, then it becomes a football issue."
Yeah, we are gonna start losing out on 4 and 5 star recruits because the majorettes are not wearing go-go boots and hair buns. If Tubby thought majorettes were critical to recruitment, he would take a band director on scouting trips!. When questioned, this person also refused to confirm she was ever even a majorette, and several band parents on our site blew her out of the water, much like they are doing here.
So I hope that the rest of you on this forum (meaning those of you who were not part of a coordinated effort to log in under fake names and pretend to agree with these people so as to show (fake) support for the cause) will treat these people with the same disdain the rest of us have. If you care about Auburn University, and care about the AU Band, then support their efforts in a positive manner instead of trying to stir up some meaningless, grudge based controversy that no one else gives a flip about. As long as Auburn fields a band, and gives a meaningful experience to the students that are members, then that is what is important to me.
War Eagle.
