Last summer was about average from what I've seen over the years we've been here..... Maybe slightly below average once we got into mid August because of the lack of summer rain. After 2007, I'm thrilled with anything above 487 from June through August and I look forward to having 483 as a winter pool. From a historical basis, the lake is usually held about 6-8 inches below the rule when water is plentiful, which means we can expect (under the new plan that should be adopted) about 489+ in early summer and 482+ in the winter when rainfall is normal. It's not uncommon to see it drop to somewhere around 487 in August. Other than 2007, I think the "powers that be" have done a better job for the last 5 years than than they did for the predeceasing 5 years. I would love to see a constant level year around, but that will never happen; I'm just grateful for those that have worked hard to make positive changes in Lake Martin for our recreational purposes. Once we get the new licensing agreement, what we've seen for the last two years is likely to be what I will experience for the rest of my life....I can accept that and will enjoy every minute of my time on "The Lake".
