As far as the upcoming cook-off between Cat and McGill is concerned, I need to put my two cents in this thread. I am a certified barbecue judge with the Memphis Barbecue Network and the Georgia Barbecue Association and have been judging for over 25 years. I have judged barbecue contests from New Hampshire to Texas. It's great that McGill is building this wonderful outdoor kitchen, but for it to be a proper contest, the cook-off needs to be held at a neutral site. You also need more than one judge and the cooked meat needs to be presented to the judges in unmarked containers so the judges will not know who cooked/smoked the meat. This is called "blind judging" and this creates a fair playing field for all of the cook teams. This systems determines who has cooked the best barbecue that day. I would be more than willing to judge and if need be, help with setting up this cook-off. I also think it should be open to other folks that want to show off their cooking/smoking ability. This "I'm a better cook than you" back and forth has been going on way too long. If you can't back up your brag, then you need to get under the porch. Let's set a date, place and time and let's GET IT ON!!!!!!!!!
