Geography prevents me from dropping the land line and depending solely on cellular service. Hills and trees make cellular reception spotty at best one a couple of carriers, and completely non-existent on all others I have tried, including my own.

And I have tried to track down the previous owners of this number. They aren't in any of the phone books I have checked, and that encompasses Alexander City, Dadeville, Goodwater, Tallassee, Wetumpka, Eclectic, Millbrook, Kowaliga and Camp Hill, off the top of my head.

Emails to the real estate office have yielded zero replies; messages left there have not been returned.

When I have talked to someone who has called to talk to one of them, I have told them that this is no longer the right number, and asked them to please ask the doctor and the realtor to update their records, and pass along their new number. I would like to think that at least one of those people has done that, assuming they ever found the people.

There are probably other things I could do, short of giving up this number that all of my friends now know (and it wasn't that hard to tell them about it) but I guess I'm just too stupid to know what those things are. According to you, anyway.
