Seen in Winn Dixie: 1. "Italian Style Panko Bread Crumbs" 2. "Great American" Swai fish filets. Complete with an American flag....

I don't know which is funnier.... At least the fish might be farm raised, I guess. I had to go all over the other day to find Fennel. Finally found some in Catherine's market -- didn't look to good, but I bought it anyway. Sometimes I think I've stumbled into an alternate universe in these stores.

If you will make up a list of herbs & spices you want, the next trip I make to the DeKalb Farmers Market I'll get them for you. The spices are so cheap there. I over buy and keep them in the freezer. A pint of Tarragon for example is about $1.25... I bought a pint of sun dried tomatoes for $2.00. Try that in Publix.

The Swai are mostly raised off the Mekong river and there is a lot of raw sewage diverted into the river and therefore into the farm ponds (yum!)... if you know what I mean. I'd stay away from any fish from China and SE Asia. WalMart sells a lot of Tilapia from China and so does Winn Dixie. Now tell me how it makes sense to ship it that far...?

I'm not buying any fish that has Asian origins these days. And yeah, I've been to Asia -- the first thing that hits the nose is the smell of the sewage. Not to mention that added thrill of the possibility of radiation. I'll take my chances with the oil in the gulf. At least it's domestic.

Ric,
I have heard about an international market place in Atlanta.  Is this the one?
