I went up near the Jaybird Creek Boat Ramp  / Irwin Shoals today to check it out. The water was stained and really high. The lake only has another foot to come up so all the sand bars are gone. The water was moving and the wind was blowing like 15 mph down stream.I was going to paddle my kayak and fly fish but it was way too windy for either of those. I saw one guy up at the bottom of the shoals, he was in a jon boat with a gas motor and he was having to run his gas motor pretty well revved up just to stay in one spot!! Needless to say I didn't catch anything. I made maybe 3 casts before I gave up.

I will be heading up towards jaybird from the railroad bridge on Friday morning 4/12.  We shall see if the stripers are running.

Hey Pontoon look forward to your report.  I've been thinking the same thing, going up to the shoals to see if stripe are there.  Thanks John for your info also.

Not much going on at Jaybird on Friday.  We caught a couple spots and white bass.  Alex City Guide service was up there and boated a few small stripers before we arrived.  We got a late start and did not make it up there until 8:30/9:00 PM.  We planner boarded live bait all the way up to the rocks and did not get any hits.

Tallapoosa River, river rising in the Piedmont area of western Georgia, U.S., west of Atlanta, and flowing southwest in an irregular, steplike course for about 268 mi (431 km), joining the larger Coosa River just north of Montgomery, Ala., to form the Alabama River. Its only large tributary is the Little Tallapoosa, which joins it about midway in its course
