Pectinatella magnifica

Today, May 31, 2013, we found three Pectinatella magnifica attached to dock floats. We are located near the Acworth public Beach area that has the big blue slide. Wondered if these are common to Allatoona. Does any body else have them?
Here is a link to website with picture and description. Hard to believe this is an animal and not a plant. Kinda gross looking but does indicate the lake is not polluted as they only exist in unpolluted waters.
