Any of you folks ever tried Pickled Eggs??
Great at the bar with an icy beer and tall tales of honor. Concern for refrigeration does not apparently apply, nor is there a problem?? The egg jar stands there right beside the salt shaker and the toothpick dispenser.. on top of the counter.

Penrose sausages. Pickled food the best when drinking. The vinegar helps with indigestion.

Who was the TV detective/policeman who always started the show sitting at a bar eating pickled eggs? He would reach into the jar with his fingerless gloves.

During college days, favorite beer joint always kept a gallon jug of pickled boiled eggs and a gallon jug of pickled pig's feet. Ate a few eggs, never got drunk enough to eat pig's feet, but saw many eaten by other drunks!!

Made a test batch last week. Used leftover juice from a jar of Vlassic Kosher Dills. Nothing else added. Behold, the pickles are YELLOW!!. Did not expect that. Beats those that are typically kinda' pink (beet juice). Not bad, but not super.
But, they are kinda' bland.. Next batch is going to be with my own juice and seasonings.... more bite to go with the beer..

It evokes a sense of camaraderie and storytelling over drinks. However, one might wonder about food safety practices in such a setting. It's like a low-key version of the rice purity test, where unconventional behaviors are hinted at but not explicitly stated.
