Audiences are then transported back in time for Asleep on the Wind, in which a young Rootie shares a heartfelt moment with her brother, Beau. His wisdom and stories help shape her future. Together, these complementary, one-act plays explore love, loss, and the surprising bonds that tie us together.

April 17, 2025 – Come enjoy Hatchet Creek perform live on the Dadeville Square, inside the air-conditioned Listening Room at Zazu’s Verandah! Hatchet Creek is an alternative country trio defined by their eclectic blend of soulful melodies and heartfelt storytelling. At the heart of the group is Berritt Haynes, celebrated for his mesmerizing vocals and strong gospel influences, showcased prominently during his memorable stint on season 21 of The Voice. His ability to infuse deep emotion into every note enriches the trio's sound with authenticity and power. You don’t want to miss getting to hear them live in a Listening Room environment!

Joining Berritt is Tyler Nichols, a 20-year-old artist known for his distinctive soulful sound that adds a layer of richness to Hatchet Creek's music. Tyler's voice brings a youthful vigor and depth, complementing each other’s vocals beautifully.

Rounding out the trio is Jerry Wolfe, the elder statesman of the group whose unique personality and seasoned songwriting abilities provide a solid foundation for their artistic vision. The Secret Sounds perform in the tradition of Ella Fitzgerald & Joe Pass, or Julie London & Barney Kessel. Their set list will include jazz and blues standards with a few jazzed-up classic country and some traditional songs. The Secret Sounds also has a number of original scores we’ll hear. They approach performance in the jazz tradition, improvising arrangements around a loose framework. They never play a song the same way twice. After 26 years away from the trumpet he picked it back up 13 years ago. In that short span he has played all over the country (Atlanta, New Orleans, Hollywood), has opened for the legendary Aaron Neville and has his own Pandora station "David Jones (Jazz) Radio". July 10, 2025 – Zazu's Verandah is please to present George Maddox, of The Appalachia Sound, performing inside the air-conditioned Listening Room, at Zazu's Verandah located on the Dadeville Square! You don’t want to miss getting to hear George live in a Listening Room environment!
We’re fortunate to get to hear George at Zazu’s Verandah because most of his performances are in Tallahassee, FL and its surrounding area.

Following in the same vein as Ronnie Van Zant and Sturgill Simpson, George is steering his brand of red dirt – honest story telling through the brackish water that is country music. His album “Gritwater” is a down to earth collection of songs written from the heart and his passion can be heard through his singing and lyrics with just the right amount of Kris Kristofferson seriousness and a touch of southern rock swagger.
Described by his friends as “country music with integrity,” His lyrics have depth and meaning. In his song “Cost,” he tackles the issue of drugs in our nation, or on the song “Water Wars” where in his own words, “is about trying to save The Apalachicola Bay from corruption and greed.”
